Giorgio Primo 2013

The “Grand Vin”, sublimated through a great passion for the Bordeaux grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, carefully selected and deriving from single particles of skeleton-rich clayey and schistose soils. It represents the highest territorial expression of the company.

50% Cabernet Sauvignon

45% Merlot

5% Petit Verdot

The 2013 vintage was excellent from a climactic viewpoint. Following a regular bud burst, the below-average temperatures during the month of May slowed down plant growth. The development resumed its normal course during the summertime, as it was facilitated by good temperatures and light rainfalls at regular intervals, allowing for a regular harvest of Merlot in mid-September, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot during the first half of October.

The 2013 vintage produced around 17,000 bottles.

The 2013 vintage further confirmed that the new wine cellar allowed us to significantly improve the quality of our wines. Spontaneous fermentations, punching down extractions, pumping with peristaltic pumps, rigorous temperature control and continuous tastings are the main operations that allowed us to best express the full potential of the harvested grapes. Subsequently, the wines were aged in French oak barrels, 60% of which were new, where they managed to intensify the polyphenolic and aromatic structures.

Bottling took place in a single occasion commencing December 2015.
