Giorgio Primo 2019
The “Grand Vin”, born from a deep passion for Bordeaux grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot are meticulously selected from individual plots characterised by clay- and schist-rich soils with a high mineral content. It represents the estate’s most prestigious and authentic expression of its unique terroir.
2019 VINTAGE
55% Cabernet Sauvignon
40% Merlot
5% Petit Verdot
The 2019 vintage was characterised by steady and favourable weather conditions. Following a winter with sporadic rainfall, spring brought further rain, replenishing the soils with the essential water reserves needed to withstand the summer temperatures. The warm summer, accompanied by occasional rainfall, supported the vines throughout their growing cycle.
Merlot was harvested in the second half of September, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot were picked during the first ten days of October. The cooler temperatures allowed us to extend the ripening period, preserving exceptional finesse and aromatic freshness.
The 2019 vintage yielded approximately 23,000 750 ml bottles.
WINEMAKING
Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks for approximately 30 days, with frequent punch-downs and pump-overs to achieve a rich extraction of polyphenols. The entire process was closely monitored through daily checks and tastings.
The wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barriques, 50% of which were new.
Bottling took place in September 2021.
TASTING NOTES
Giorgio Primo 2019 displays an intense and vibrant ruby-red colour. On the nose, it reveals aromas of dark fruit, accompanied by mineral notes of stone and schist, as well as hints of graphite and tobacco.
On the palate, it is elegant, full-bodied and complex, with ripe, refined tannins. A distinctive savoury note, characteristic of our soils, gives the wine a long and highly pleasing finish.
