THE 2013 VINTAGE
60% Sangiovese
30% Merlot
10% Cabernet Sauvignon e Alicante B
The year 2013 was a memorable one for the excellent climatic conditions, yields and quality of the grapes. The springtime was spent with cool temperatures, sometimes below average for this time of year and rainfall at regular intervals, never excessive. These conditions slowed the development of the first phenological phases experienced by the vine plants, also reducing any possible fungal infections. The high summer temperatures and the absence of rain were the perfect conditions for the vine to quickly complete vegetative development and reach optimal ripening of the grapes. The sunny weather and fluctuating temperatures during September completed the phenolic ripeness and defined a wonderful flavour profile of this exceptional vintage.
The 2013 vintage produced around 110,000 bottles.
VINIFICATION
The year 2013 was vinified entirely in the new cellar. The experience gained from the previous vintage allowed us to carry out the proven vinification protocols to our best capability. Spontaneous fermentations, punching down extractions, pumping with peristaltic pumps, rigorous temperature control and continuous tastings are the main operations that allowed us to best express the full potential of the harvested grapes. . Subsequently, the wines were aged in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new, where they managed to embody and intensify the characteristic notes of the vintage and of our terroir.
Bottling took place in a single occasion commencing July 2015.
