The year began with a mild and dry winter, followed by unusually warm temperatures that led to early budbreak in the vines. This development was unfortunately interrupted by a sudden return of cold weather, which caused some damage to the new shoots. Spring, however, brought a period of significant rainfall, while temperatures continued to rise steadily until mid-June.
