Carla 6 2018

Carla 6 comes from the desire of Giampaolo and his friend and advisor Stephane Derenouncourt to compete and collide with a vine among the most difficult and unruly: the Sangiovese. Coming exclusively from vineyard No. 6: a unique substrate of gray schist and sand, which gives the wine great minerality and splendid notes of graphite. A pure Sangiovese, vinified and aged individually in French oak tonneaux.

2018 was finally characterized by a more normal winter with temperatures below zero which allowed a correct phase of the vines. Spring time was characterized by a particularly rainy month of May which allowed us to pass a particularly hot month of April in the best possible way. The budding was slightly late but the plants carried out their vegetative cycle on a regular basis. The summer which was characterized by a June with some rain and a decidedly warmer July but with good temperature variations between day and night. In mid- August, some rainfall allowed the plants to face the veraison phase. September and October was characterized by excellent climatic conditions for a perfect ripeness of the grapes. The autumn rains arrived shortly after the end of the harvest from mid-October.

The vintage 2018 was vinified in the steel vat. The wines were then aged in 50% new French oak tonneaux, which emphasize the features of our terroir and this vintage. Carla 6 continued its elevage in a concrete tank for 12 months before being bottled in July 2020. The wine stay one year in bottle before release. The 2018 vintage has produced about 6.000 bottles
